A lost Buy Box or a suppressed listing doesn’t show up as a dramatic event — it’s a quiet drop in sales that you might not notice for a day or two, by which point a competitor has taken the traffic and the momentum. On Amazon, a few hours of downtime on your best seller can matter more than a whole slow week anywhere else.
What to watch
Three things cost sellers the most, the fastest:
- Losing the Buy Box on a top ASIN, usually because a competitor undercut your price.
- A listing suppression, where Amazon pulls a listing from search over a policy or content issue.
- A stockout on a bestseller, especially right before a sales event.
How to set it up
BreakPass doesn’t watch your Amazon account — a monitoring tool, a script you or a developer built, or an automation platform does that. You connect it to BreakPass the same way you’d connect any other notification:
- If you use a seller tool with its own alerts, point its webhook or email notification at your BreakPass link or BreakPass email address instead of, or alongside, its usual notification.
- If you or your ops team run a custom script against Amazon’s own seller API, send the alert the same way — a webhook call to BreakPass when it detects a change.
- Add your ops manager or VA as a recipient too, not just yourself — most sellers aren’t the ones checking listings all day.
Tips
- Split alerts by how much revenue is at risk. A Buy Box loss on your #1 ASIN deserves a fast WhatsApp; a minor listing on a slow mover probably doesn’t need an alert at all.
- Ask your agent to include what changed, not just that something changed — a competitor’s new price is more useful than “Buy Box lost.”
- Set stock alerts early enough to reorder, not right as you run out — a week’s supply left is a better trigger than zero.
- Review the alerts each week for the first month. It’s common to start too broad and then narrow to the handful of ASINs that actually matter.
